Gerwyn Price has booked his place in the Grand Slam of Darts knock-out stages after two wins in his opening two group games.
Price saw off Nathan Rafferty 5-1 in his opening match on Saturday November 11, before a 5-0 win over Ryan Searle on Sunday sealed his place in the round of 16.
Three-time Grand Slam winner Price, from Markham, will face Gian van Veen in his final Group D game on Monday November 13.
Speaking after his victory over Searle, Price said: “I felt good up there. I knew I was through with a win, which gave me that extra edge.
“I was in the zone. I was putting Ryan under a lot of pressure which was a good feeling, but I didn’t realise how well I was playing.”
He continued: “I think that sends out a statement. The format gets longer in the knockout stage, but that’s when I get better and better.”
The 32-player competition is being held in Wolverhampton, with the top two players from each of the eight groups advancing to the last 16.
The group stage will draw to a close on Tuesday November 14, with the knockout stages getting underway on Wednesday.
