Gerwyn Price will take on old rival Gary Anderson in the Grand Slam of Darts last 16 on Wednesday November 15.

Three-time Grand Slam champion Price goes into the knockout stages after topping Group D following three wins in as many games.

Price, from Markham, saw off Nathan Rafferty 5-1 in his opening match on Saturday November 11, before a 5-0 win over Ryan Searle on Sunday sealed his place in the round of 16.

He extended his 100% record after beating Dutchman Gian van Veen 5-1 in his final group game.

Price averaged a mammoth 112.30 average against Van Veen – the ninth highest in the tournament’s history.

The 32-player competition is being held in Wolverhampton, with the top two players from each of the eight groups advancing to the last 16.

Also advancing from Group D is Ryan Searle, who Price beat 5-0 on Sunday.

However, Carmarthenshire’s Jonny Clayton has crashed out of the competition after finishing third in Group B, behind Josh Rock and Chris Dobey.

Elsewhere, reigning world champion Michael Smith has made a shock exit from the tournament, finishing behind James Wade and Krzysztof Ratajski in Group A.

Price’s knockout date with Scotland’s Anderson is a repeat of the 2018 final, in which Price won his first ever Grand Slam title.

However, the fiery encounter led to Price being fined £21,500 and handed a three-month suspended ban for his behaviour during the game, while Anderson was given a formal warning after pushing Price.

Meanwhile, Anderson was Price’s opponent in the dramatic World Championship final in 2021 – which saw Price become world champion for the first time.
