More than 9,000 visitors came to Caerphilly as the town hosted its lantern parade and winter food and craft fair on Saturday December 2.

It was the busiest day in Caerphilly town centre since the Little Cheese Festival in September, attracting 9,326 visitors in total.

It was nearly 6,000 more than visited the town the previous Saturday, event organiser Caerphilly County Borough Council has said.

More than 150 food, drink, and craft stalls were in attendance, with street performers, live music and Father Christmas all taking part in the festivities.

Winter food and craft fairs have also been held in Ystrad Mynach and Blackwood in recent weeks. However, Bargoed’s events – which were due to be held on Saturday December 9 – were called off due to bad weather.
