Lauren Price MBE remains undefeated as a professional boxer following her victory over former European champion Silvia Bortot.
Price, from Ystrad Mynach, outclassed the Italian in Bournemouth on Sunday December 10 – her sixth win in six fights since signing a pro deal with Boxxer in 2022.
Price won every round against Bortot, winning 80-72 on the referee’s scorecard.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the fight, 2020 Olympic gold medallist Price said: “I am happy with my performance. She was a tough girl but I feel I upped my game tonight, stood there and traded and got some body shots off.
“I think I am improving all the time. I thought I controlled the fight.”
Price has now set her sights on facing the winner of the IBF welterweight world title fight between Natasha Jonas and Mikaela Mayer, which is on January 20.
“I have had my little run out, as you call it,” Price told Sky Sports. “I believe I beat Natasha Jonas or Mikaela Mayer, whoever is the winner.”
Following Price’s victory on Sunday, Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom told BBC Sport that Price can go on to become a “national icon” in Wales – and said she is eyeing up a fight in Cardiff in 2024.
