The World Darts Championship gets underway on Friday December 15 – with Markham’s Gerwyn Price aiming to become a two-time world champion.

The annual competition, held at London’s Alexandra Palace, includes 96 players competing for the biggest prize in the world of darts.

The winner will lift the coveted Sid Waddell Trophy and take home £500,000.

Price, who won the competition in 2021, will enter the picture in the second round on Monday December 18, where he will face either Connor Scutt or Krzysztof Kciuk.

Price is currently ranked fifth on the PDC Order of Merit. Englishman Scutt is ranked 71st while Kciuk, from Poland, is ranked 90th.

Scutt and Kciuk face off in the first round on Saturday December 16, with the winner playing against Price two days later.

Following a three-day Christmas break, the third and fourth rounds will be held from Wednesday December 27 to Saturday December 30, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final held between Monday January 1 and Wednesday January 3.

The world championships will be shown live on Sky Sports.
