Markham’s Gerwyn Price gets his World Darts Championship campaign underway on Monday evening.
2021 world champion Price enters the competition in the second round, where he will be up against England’s Connor Scutt.
Scutt, who is ranked 71st in the PDC Order of Merit, beat Poland’s Krzysztof Kciuk 3-0 in the first round on Saturday December 16.
“I’ve put so much into this, so to get over the line was really special,” said Scutt after his opening round win.
“My practice game is starting to come out in competitive games which is great for myself.
“I know what Gezzy can do, but if I play my A-game, I believe I’ve got a decent chance. It’s about being comfortable, because if I get comfortable up there, I’ll be difficult to stop.”
Following a three-day Christmas break, the third and fourth rounds will be held from Wednesday December 27 to Saturday December 30, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final held between Monday January 1 and Wednesday January 3.
The world championships are being shown live on Sky Sports.
