A man has been charged with the most serious form of grievous bodily harm (GBH), after an alleged assault in Caerphilly on Boxing Day left two women hospitalised.

Lewys Lintern, 19, appeared in Newport Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday January 3 and was charged with two counts of causing GBH with intent on Ludlow Street, Caerphilly, at around 12.30am on Tuesday December 26.

Lintern, of Maelog Road, Whitchurch, is due to appear at crown court on Tuesday January 30.

Two women aged 19 and 21, both from Caerphilly, were taken to hospital for treatment. They have since been discharged.

Two men aged 22, another man aged 23, and a woman aged 21, were also arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent, otherwise known as a section 18 assault.

All four have been released on bail.
