A swimming teacher has received a national award for her work teaching children and adults.

Ellie Welsh, who is part of the Cefn Fforest Leisure Centre team, was crowned Swim Teacher of the Year 2024 at the Swim Wales awards.

She received her award at a ceremony in Cardiff on Saturday January 20.

The awards, organised by Swim Wales – the national governing body for aquatics – recognise individuals, clubs, and partners across 23 categories.

Jayne Evans, of Caerphilly Leisure Centre, was runner up for Swim Teacher of the Year category.

Caerphilly County Borough had more nominees than any other part of Wales.
