16 young athletes from Caerphilly County Borough to compete on national stage

Rhymney Valley Athletics Club is sending 16 athletes to compete at a UK-wide competition
Sixteen young athletes from Rhymney Valley Athletics Club have been selected to compete at a UK-wide competition

Sixteen athletes from across Caerphilly County Borough have been chosen to represent East Wales at a UK-wide competition.

The athletes, aged between 12 and 17, will be competing at the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships.

They are all members of the Oakdale-based Rhymney Valley Athletics Club, as part of its endurance squad.

The competition gets underway in Nottingham on Friday March 8.

With 16 athletes chosen, it is the most athletes the club has ever had selected to represent East Wales at the UK Inter Counties competitions.

The 16 chosen include: Meg Pewtner, Poppy Howells, Amelia Bartley, Daryna Kukatina, Eva Parry, Maddie Malpas, Imogen Jones, Eleanor Wright Nicholas, Rhys Birt, Charlie Malpas, Dylan Powell, Gethin Lehaj, Ethan Grey, Harri Titchener, Ffion Enoch, and Amelia Watkins.
