Gerwyn Price suffered a first round exit on Premier League Darts Night Seven

Gerwyn Price has suffered a fourth consecutive first round Premier League Darts exit after losing to Peter Wright.

Price, from Markham, went into Night Seven, held in Nottingham on Thursday March 14, in seventh place in the standings.

He took on bottom-place Wright in the first round, but was left ruing missed chances as he was beaten 6-5.

It was a first Premier League win in 2024 for two-time world champion Wright, who was knocked out in the semi-final by eventual winner Luke Humphries – who now sits top of the standings ahead of Michael van Gerwen.

Despite the loss, 2021 world champion Price remains seventh in the table.

Posting on his Instagram story following his exit, Price joked: “Just had some food, funny thing is I didn’t finish that either.”

The Premier League consists of 16 mini-events held across different cities throughout the season, with each league night comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final over the best of 11 legs.

Points will be awarded each night to form the league table, from which the top four players will progress to the play-offs, which will be held at the O2 in London on Thursday May 23.

Premier League Darts returns for Night Eight in Dublin on Thursday March 21, with Price opening up against Van Gerwen.
