Cefn Fforest Leisure Centre is to re-open later this year after a major refit.
The centre, which has a pool, fitness zone, dance studio and health suite, has been closed for several months while Caerphilly Council work to fix structural problems.
During the closure the council also decided to carry out improvements.
The pool’s tiling is being replaced and the building is getting a complete rewiring.
Cllr Phil Bevan, cabinet member for education and leisure, said: “We are delighted that we can give the centre a new lease of life by undertaking these major improvements works.
“The council provides an impressive portfolio of leisure facilities for local residents and we are keen to encourage as many people as possible to lead a fit and active lifestyle. We now look forward to the re-opening of the centre later this year.”
