More than £3,500 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support after a pub hosted its own charity fun day.
The White Cross Inn, in Groeswen, near Caerphilly, held the event, which included a novelty dog show, on Saturday June 15.
Landlady Mair Arthur told Caerphilly Observer that the event was organised to support pub regulars who are planning a charity walk for Macmillan in August – with donations open until the end of July.
The event included activities such as a barrel push and tug of war. Raffles and lucky dips were also available, accompanied by live music, food and a bouncy castle for the children.
Ms Arthur said: “It was a good afternoon and despite the rainy conditions, the fun didn’t stop”.
She explained that without the help from volunteers, most of the activities, including the bouncy castle and the dog show, wouldn’t have been possible.
Ms Arthur continued: “Everyone donated their time and effort and joined in to help.
“Everybody loved it, we had fantastic comments of support on Facebook too.”
In December 2022, the pub was used as a filming location for the Doctor Who episode 73 Yards, which was aired on May 25.
