86-year-old woman taken to hospital after being hit by car

St Mary Street, Risca

An 86-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Risca over the weekend.

The collision, which involved a black Suzuki Swift, happened on St Mary Street at around 10.10pm on Saturday August 24.

A 29-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Gwent Police is appealing for anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to contact the force on 101, or through direct message on social media, quoting log reference 2400284547.
