Commuters are facing months of roadworks, with a £350,000 project to upgrade gas pipes set to begin in Caerphilly next month.
In a statement, Wales and West Utilities said the work is “essential to keep the gas flowing safely and reliably to local homes and businesses, keeping people warm for generations to come”.
The works, which will begin on Monday October 7, are due to be completed by the end of April 2025, barring any engineering difficulties, the company confirmed.
The work itself will be carried-out on Pontygwindy Road, Virginia View, and Rhos Street, starting by the junction near Asda and working towards the town centre.
There will be rolling traffic lights during this time.
There will also be no work over the Christmas period, specifically between December 2 and January 2.
Andrew Coleman, of Wales and West Utilities, said: “We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.
“We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.”
