Former Senghenydd RFC youth team player Harri Ford has helped Wales U20s to their first Six Nations away win since 2020.
Fly half Ford came off the bench against Italy in Treviso tonight (Friday February 7) to kick a crucial penalty with just ten minutes to go.
In the end, a two point lead was enough for Richard Whiffin’s side, who held on to beat the Italians 20-18 and secure their first win of the tournament.
It was a back and forth encounter, with Italy full of confidence having won their opener against Scotland.
Meanwhile Wales were coming off a tough 63-19 loss against France.
At 15-10 to the hosts at half-time, Wales brought the tie level before the Italians kicked a penalty to take a slender one point lead.
Then, from the bench, Ford kicked the game-winning penalty to hand Wales their first away win in the Six Nations since 2020.
Wales U20s now face Ireland on Friday February 21.
