Number 56 bus
The new prices will come into effect on Sunday February 23

Stagecoach has announced adult single fares are set to rise by an average of 25p, but says buses still remain “value for money”.

Adult day rider tickets are also set to rise by an average of 56p, with the new prices coming into force from Sunday February 23.

As of Sunday, a day rider ticket for one adult in Caerphilly is set to rise from £6 to £7.

The bus company said it has “tried to keep fares as low as possible”, and that in some instances, ticket prices will come down on select routes.

Martin Gibbon, managing director of Stagecoach South Wales, said: “Bus travel remains value for money and Stagecoach continues to offer some of the lowest ticket prices in the country. We also remain committed to keeping fares as low as we can for our customers.

“As well as paying for the day-to-day running of the region’s vital bus network, ticket costs help us to continue investing in improvements for our customers and keep communities connected across South Wales.

“Whilst we are doing everything we can to absorb these cost increases, changing our fares to reflect the current climate is also a necessity to keep our services running across the region.”
