Gerwyn Price was unable to build on last week’s success in Nottingham when Premier League Darts headed to Cardiff on Thursday night.

Price, from Markham, was roared on by the Welsh crowd at the Utilita Arena on Thursday March 20 – but he was beaten by Rob Cross at the quarter-final stage.

Price, who has two night wins under his belt so far this year, found himself 3-0 and then 5-2 down to Cross but fought back to draw level and set up a deciding leg.

But it was 2018 world champion Cross who reeled in the Big Fish – a 170 checkout – to clinch victory over the Chippy 501 owner and reach the semi-finals.

There, Cross was beaten by Luke Littler, who beat Michael van Gerwen in the final to seal his third Premier League night win of the year and move clear at the top of the standings.

Price meanwhile drops to fourth on the leaderboard – but remains in a play-off spot.

Next Thursday, Premier League Darts heads to Newcastle for Night 8 – with Price facing Cross at the quarter-final stage once again.

But before that, Price will travel to the German city of Göttingen for the European Darts Trophy, which will be played between Friday March 21 and Sunday March 23.

Price will enter the 48-player competition in the second round on Saturday, where he will play the winner of the first round clash involving Ryan Searle and Laurin Welk.
