Gerwyn Price will play in front of a home crowd tonight when Premier League Darts heads to Cardiff’s Utilita Arena for Night 7.
Price, from Markham, goes into the event off the back of a victory in last week’s competition in Nottingham – his second Premier League night victory this year.
The 40-year-old, who is currently third in the overall standings, will play Rob Cross at the quarter-final stage.
Price said: “I’m not looking any further than the game against Rob.
“I think Rob is probably playing some of the best stuff he’s ever played, so I know I have to be on my game.
“To win the night in Cardiff and give a little bit back to the crowd that have always supported me would be amazing, but I’m fully focused on my opening game.”
He added: “I want to keep this run going. The best part of my game at the moment is that I’m enjoying it, my mentality is right and I’m feeling more confident than I have for a while.”
Price defeated Littler 6-3 to triumph in Nottingham on Night Six, as he recorded his sixth consecutive victory over the teenage sensation, in a record dating back to April 2024.
The pair could renew their rivalry in the Night 7 semi-finals, with reigning champion Littler up against 2020 runner-up Nathan Aspinall in his opener.
‘Pay back the crowd’
Speaking to BetMGM, the sponsors of Premier League Darts, Price revealed it “means the world” to win in Cardiff.
He said: “It’s one of the main appeals of the Premier League for me – I don’t really get to play in Wales.
“I’ve won the night before and it means the world. It’s good when me or Jonny [Clayton] are in for the Welsh crowd and to pay back the crowd with a win is huge.
“I want to win every night – but especially Cardiff.”
A Premier League runner-up in 2023, Price said: “I’ve lost in the final before – two years ago I just fell short. To be the best over a gruelling schedule, to be able to lift the trophy in a competition where you have to be so good all the way through, I need to be focused right until the end.
“Fingers crossed I can pick the title up.”
He added: “It’s vital to get off to a good start, to get a few wins on the board and ease the pressure towards the back end of the tournament.
“Hopefully I can make the top four and, if I do hopefully it’s also me that lifts the trophy this time.”
