Nearly 10,000 visitors came to Caerphilly when the town hosted its annual food and drink festival last month.

There were cookery demonstrations, entertainers, children’s funfair rides and sunshine when the event was held on Saturday April 12.

The event was praised by a number of local businesses, including the owners of Kookoo Madame at Castle Court Shopping Centre. They said: “Caerphilly was alive, it was so lovely to see our town buzzing.”

The organisers of Caerphilly Artisan Market said: “What a fantastic day. Thank you so much to everyone who joined us at the Twyn Community Centre, our gorgeous small businesses, every beautiful customer who came along to support them, Stacy and Sarah and all the team at Visit Caerphilly.

“You smashed it out the park again.”

The owners of Glanmors bakery said the event brought more customers through their doors on Cardiff Road: “It’s always a busy event and as usual, we were very busy.

“The weather was really nice, and it was great to see the traders outside doing so well.”

This event was part-funded by Caerphilly Town Council, as well as through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, and organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Later this year, Caerphilly town will host Pride Caerffili and Caerphilly Cheese Festival, with a Christmas market planned for later in the year.

The next event planned in the borough is Bargoed May Fair, which is being held on Saturday May 3.
