The Caerphilly Miners Centre for the Community

The Caerphilly Miners Centre for the Community is looking for a new volunteer chair of trustees and a new honorary treasurer to help oversee the charity behind the organisation.

Based on the site of the former Caerphilly Miners’ Hospital, the centre reopened as a multi-use community centre in 2015 and now offers a host of leisure and educational activities.

Its current chair, Katherine Hughes, is retiring and the new chair’s appointment will run from September 2025.

Caerphilly Miners Centre says its vision is “as a self-standing organisation, based on community consultation, a volunteer-led approach, collaborative endeavor and a focus on respecting people.”

The new chair, when appointed, will oversee the board of trustees with a time commitment of around 25 to 30 days a year to attend meetings and fulfil other commitments.

The position of honorary treasurer will monitor the financial administration of the charity overseeing budgets, and ensuring proper accounting records are kept.

This is also an unpaid position with a time commitment of around an hour a week plus one board meeting every six weeks and one finance committee meeting in between each board meeting.

Email secretary@caerphillyminerscentre.org.uk to express an interest in becoming either chair or treasurer, or visit www.caerphillyminerscentre.co.uk/job-vacancies for more information about the roles.
