Detailed plans for 16 new homes in Pontlottyn have been given the green light by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
If it goes ahead, the project will involve the redevelopment of the Edwards and Ross Pallets depot to the north of the village.
Surrounded by trees, the site would provide a mixture of three-, four- and five-bedroom houses.
Each property would be two storeys tall and have their own driveways or garages.
An “open green space” would be created in the centre of the site, and “soft landscaping” provided throughout.
Outline planning permission for a residential development was granted in 2016, and the current application covers the more precise details around matters such as design.
Planning officers described the new detailed proposals as “appropriate” and “in keeping with” other housing locally, but did raise concerns the initial designs contain a “monotonous” range of materials.
They recommended a planning condition to “include a wider material palette”.
The council’s planning committee unanimously approved the project, subject to several conditions, at a meeting on Wednesday July 9.
