Gwent Police said a “large quantity” of cash was seized in the raids

A 25-year-old man who was arrested following a series of Gwent Police drug raids has been released under investigation.

The man, from the Rhymney area, was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of cocaine and cannabis, as well as using or possessing criminal property.

His arrest came after police raided three properties in Rhymney on the morning of Thursday August 21.

Cocaine, cannabis, two off-road bikes, two cars, mobile phones, a laptop, and a “large quantity” of cash were seized during the raids, which involved more than 20 Gwent Police officers.

The raids were carried out as part of Gwent Police’s Respect Rhymney scheme – which has so far seen 21 drugs raids in the town, with 13 people arrested. Two people have also been convicted for drug offences and sentenced to a combined total of seven years in prison.
