A former pub in Pontllanfraith could be redeveloped for affordable housing.
The Tredegar Junction Hotel, on Commercial Street, is “vacant and has fallen into disrepair”, according to agents Highlight Planning, ahead of a public consultation on the proposals.
In conjunction with a registered social landlord, the project would create 35 affordable apartments with balconies and a communal garden space, as well as parking to the rear.
According to Highlight Planning, the redevelopment would provide “much-needed” homes on a “derelict development site” and “make a meaningful contribution towards addressing the significant number of applicants who require affordable housing in Pontllanfraith”.

GHR Developments will host a drop-in consultation event for members of the public to find out more about the proposals, at Pontllanfraith Rugby Club, on Wednesday October 1, from 3pm to 7pm.
Following the consultation period which runs until mid-October, the developer is expected to submit a formal planning application to Caerphilly County Borough Council for the project.
