Church View Care Home, Caerphilly

A “small number” of staff have been suspended from a Caerphilly care home after concerns were raised by a colleague over the care of a resident.

A spokesperson for HC-One, owner of Church View Care Home, on St Martin’s Road, said a “thorough investigation” had been carried out and that relevant authorities were notified.

They said: “The wellbeing of our residents is of the utmost importance to us. We take any concerns raised about the care in our home very seriously. We conducted a thorough investigation into the concerns raised about a resident’s care and notified the relevant authorities.

“As part of the investigation, we suspended a small number of colleagues, and we are following due process with them. We will always take appropriate action as necessary against anyone who does not uphold the highest standards of care and respect.”

Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) confirmed it was not directly involved in the staff investigation but had participated in safeguarding meetings led by the local authority.

The regulator said Church View was rated “Good” in all four inspection areas following a visit in May 2025, but confirmed it had been made aware of a specific incident by a member of staff.

A spokesperson said: “[HC One’s] area director was made aware by a staff member about a specific incident. The care provider conducted internal investigations, working with the local authority’s safeguarding and commissioning teams, and appropriate action was taken.

“Our team manager and inspector have met recently with the service’s area director, and we remain in regular contact with local authority commissioners who continue to monitor the service closely.

“We have received assurances that the service is actively addressing all identified issues and that there are currently no concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of residents.”

The spokesperson continued: “We recognise this will be a worrying time for families and understand their concern when hearing about issues at their loved one’s care home.

“We want to reassure families that robust safeguarding processes are in place and are working effectively.

“All relevant agencies are working closely to monitor the situation and ensure residents continue to receive appropriate care.”
