More than £1,000 has been donated to a Caerphilly day care centre for adults with complex disabilities.

Sense Cymru, which has a hub on Caerphilly Business Park, received the donation from Caerphilly Lions Club.

Kate Wright, the hub’s resource centre manager, said: “We were thrilled to welcome members from the Caerphilly branch of the Lions Club for a tour around the Hub.

“We were overwhelmed with the generosity of the club, who presented us with a £1,000 cheque.

“This money will pay for a pantomime trip and the hire of a local community centre so all of our supported individuals are able to access an inclusive pantomime in a safe environment.

“We are eternally grateful to the Lions for making this possible.”

The Caerphilly Lions Club is a branch of Lions Club International, which is a global organisation with more than 1.4 million members and around 46,000 groups worldwide.

Club president Paul Rees said members were “very impressed with the friendliness and dedication of the volunteers and staff in helping these young disabled people” and added: “We are very pleased to be handing over a cheque for £1,000.”
