Four young martial artists from Caerphilly are representing Wales at this year’s WKU World Championships in Germany.

The students, who train at the WCKA Caerphilly Club based at Trecenydd Community Centre, are competing in Trier between October 26 and November 1.

They are part of Team Wales, taking on opponents from around the world in categories including light contact, points, kick light and kumite.

The WKU – the World Kickboxing and Karate Union – brings together both disciplines at its annual world championships, featuring competitors from across the globe.

The Caerphilly club, led by coach Steve Bevan, runs weekly sessions on Thursdays and Fridays and has built a strong reputation for developing talented fighters over the years.

Mr Bevan, a long-standing figure in local martial arts, said he was proud of the four students for earning their place on the national team and wished them success as they represent both the club and their country on the international stage.

He said: “They’ve been working really hard and deserve it.”

For information about classes or to get involved with the club, contact Mr Bevan on 07950 541524.
