A developer has set out detailed plans to build 40 homes on fields in Aberbargoed.
If approved, the mixture of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses will be built on grassland between Y Ffordd Wen and the Hangar Youth and Community Centre, south of Bedwellty Road.
Outline planning permission for housing was granted in 2023 and now developer Llanmoor is seeking full consent to push ahead with the proposals.
The housebuilder is also behind another nearby development on the northern side of Bedwellty Road, which was approved in 2024 and is currently under construction. Both developments were given outline planning consent in 2023 for a total of 76 homes – 31 fewer that are now on the cards.
In a planning statement, agents Sullivan Land and Planning said 40 homes are proposed due to “topographic challenges” on the land, including “substantial level changes”.
This also means the applicant has not proposed any affordable housing on the site, the agents said.
They described the proposed new layout as “well thought out” and offering a “diverse mix of property types and sizes to cater to a broad range of housing need”.
The agents added the homes would be “located within attractive, green streets” and the development, if approved, will also include a play area.
A temporary access route could also be created to the east of Y Ffordd Wen for “the delivery of plant and materials during the construction process”.
The application is currently awaiting a decision, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 25/0717/FULL.
