The former arcade on Blackwood High Street

A former amusement arcade in Blackwood could be turned into a sporting goods store and café.

David Milligan, from The Social Bull Limited, has applied for planning permission to change the use of 115 High Street from a commercial premises to a retail unit and coffee shop.

In his application, he hoped the conversion would create a “family-friendly atmosphere where families and friends can come to our venue, relax and play some pool and darts”.

Mr Milligan said the new venture would run darts tournaments for under 18s, and will also include a function room for private events and children’s parties.

No alcohol will be served, according to the application, with Mr Milligan saying the business will hope to attract families who can “stay for soft drinks and use our facilities”.

The application is currently awaiting a decision, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 25/0736/COU.
