Planning permission is being sought for a cafe conversion in Newport, five years after the work was carried out.

Housing association Hedyn has applied retrospectively to change the use of the premises at 25 Skinner Street for food and drink sales.

The unit is currently home to a cafe following a refurbishment – which according to planning documents submitted to the city council took place in October 2020.

It is within a strip of commercial units below Olympia House, the former passport office redeveloped into new apartments by Newport City Homes – which has since been renamed Hedyn following a merger with Melin Homes.

The application is currently under consultation, and can be viewed on the Newport City Council website under reference 25/0962.
