Idris Davies School

Wintery weather forced the closure of four Caerphilly County Borough schools on Monday January 5.

Following a risk assessment on Monday morning, Idris Davies School in Abertysswg was deemed unsafe to open due to snow, Caerphilly County Borough Council confirmed.

Ysgol y Lawnt in nearby Rhymney is also shut due to snow and ice, while Deri Primary School hasn’t opened due to both the weather and a broken boiler.

The icy weather has also forced the closure of Y Cwmpawd Gilfach.

Visit the council’s website for more information about school closures.

No school transport cuts in budget but council tax rises not ruled out
