Community groups, charities, social enterprises can apply for up to £5,000 funding to run projects and events.
Jane Mudd, Gwent’s police and crime commissioner, is making the money available to support initiatives that help build community cohesion, and strengthen trust and confidence in public services across the region.
Why is Caerphilly in Gwent?
Caerphilly County Borough was formed on April 1, 1996, by the merger of the Rhymney Valley district of Mid Glamorgan with the Islwyn borough of Gwent.
Administratively, for local services such as the police and health, the borough now falls under a wider region referred to as Gwent. This comprises the council areas of Caerphilly, Newport, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Monmouthshire.
Ms Mudd said: “People across Gwent have told me they want safer, stronger communities where everyone feels supported and protected.
“One way we can achieve this is by developing projects and events that bring people together and support those who are too often marginalised.”
The commissioner continued: “Our communities have the power to create lasting change, and they are best placed to lead it. To do that, they need the right support. I’m proud to invest in that potential and to use money recovered from criminal activity to help build a fairer, safer society.”
