The revised Caerphilly 10k route

A new, flatter, route has been revealed for this year’s Caerphilly 10k race.

The course has been redesigned to give runners a more consistent route, reducing elevation by 14.29% compared to 2025.

The changes come following feedback from runners, according to organisers Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The event is being held on Sunday May 10, with the Caerphilly 2k race – which is also getting a revised route – being held on the same day.

The 10k start and finish will remain on Crescent Road. From the start, runners will head through town and onto Pontygwindy Road towards the Pwllypant Roundabout, before heading down the Lansbury Park distributor road.

The route then moves onto Van Road, before returning through the town centre and back onto Crescent Road for the finish.

Cllr Chris Morgan, cabinet member for leisure, has praised the decision to alter the route, insisting that participation numbers will improve thanks to the change.

He said: “The Caerphilly 10K is a flagship event for our borough and a celebration of community participation in physical activity. Listening to runner feedback has been central to the decision to introduce this new route.

“By reducing elevation and improving consistency, we are creating a course that is more inclusive and more supportive of personal goals, whether that’s completing a first 10K or chasing a new personal best.”

The current course record was set by Dewi Griffiths in 2024, when he finished in 29 minutes and 12 seconds. The women’s course record is held by Olivia Tsim, who completed in with a time of 34 minutes and 58 seconds last year.
