Blackwood High Street has welcomed a new shop in the form of Mod fashion retailer Carnaby Street.

The shop sells clothing and accessories inspired by the Mod movement and adds an authentic ‘retro’ look to the High Street.

At the shop’s recent opening members of a local scooter club attended on their Vespas and Lamberettas to mark the special event.

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s town centre development manager Andrew Highway welcomed the new shop to Blackwood.

He said: “Carnaby Street is a destination store which will bring even more people into Blackwood town centre. We hope that once there they will discover the host of other fantastic independent retailers the town has to offer people who love the experience of shopping.”
