An Oakdale school has been given an IT award for its commitment to teaching children digital skills.
Ysgol Gymraeg Cwm Derwen has been awarded the BECTA ICT mark as recognition for its work.
Richard Carbis, the headteacher at Ysgol Cwm Derwen, said: “I am delighted to have received this award in recognition of all the progressive work of teachers, staff and pupils at the school.
“We have worked very hard to develop the teaching and learning skills of our pupils in ICT. This area of the curriculum will play a major part in their future learning and development in this ever changing field.”
Councillor Allan Pritchard, leader of Caerphilly Council, who was invited to the school to make the presentation of the award, added: “It seems like only yesterday that Cwm Derwen opened its doors to its first pupils and it is a credit to all those involved in the school that they are already picking up such prestigious awards.”
