Caerphilly Business Forum blog: Take time out to relax this summer holiday

Elections, referendums, recruitment, relocation and work, work, work …it’s been a hectic year for both Caerphilly Business Forum and my own business. I’m sure I’m not alone.

Occasionally, in a rare quiet moment, I ask myself why I do it. Then the phone rings and another fascinating opportunity beckons and I’m off again, my question answered.

But somewhere along the line we all need to take time out, to stop and smell the roses.

Many people are doing that right now, of course, on their summer holidays, that annual reward for all their hard work.

Rewards, in whatever shape or form, are vital. They not only justify all our past endeavours but also inspire us to continue. And they are important to everyone too, not just business owners.

Our Caerphilly Business Forum Awards serve precisely this purpose. By recognising the achievements of businesses all over the county borough we’re rewarding success, putting it in the spotlight and saying “look what you have achieved”.

And there’s nothing like someone saying “well done!” to encourage you push on and renew your efforts.

Everyone associated with a business feels the benefit – I can vouch for that as Rose-Innes Designs was lucky enough to win a Caerphilly Business Forum award a couple of years ago.

The event itself has really grown in importance too. Sponsors are pretty much all in place for the next one – our 10th awards evening in November – and we are now taking entries.

There are more categories than ever so there’s more chance your business could be shortlisted. You can check the opportunities out on our website www.cbforum.co.uk – do it now before the pace of life picks up again.

I can’t promise you the evening will be as relaxing as lying on a beach with a hot sun beating down on you, but the time will be right for celebration. And I can promise you there will be plenty of that so get your glad rags on and join us for the black tie event of the year.
