A community group is helping injured and traumatised children in Caerphilly County Borough – by knitting.

Over the last few months, the members of Pengam Library’s Knit n Natter group have produced a collection of “Trauma Teddies”.

Firefighters from Blackwood fire station recently collected the teddies to hand out to children involved in emergencies to comfort and reassure them.

The Knit n Natter group meets at the library every week and its members enjoy working on charitable projects.

So far they have produced blankets and baby clothes which have been sent to Romania to help various charities and they have also been knitting novelty character chicks for Velindre Hospital.

If you would like more details about the group contact Pengam Library direct on 01443 831738.
