Swalec staff offer volunteer help to community projects

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Wednesday February 16th, 2011.

Energy firm Swalec would like to hear from schools, community groups and charities in need of volunteer help.

The company is looking to undertake community projects across south Wales which range from providing volunteers for one day to one month.

Community projects could include anything from clearing an overgrown school garden to cleaning rubbish from a community pond, or simply crushing old boxes to crunching numbers on a club’s behalf.

More than 2000 Swalec workers are being given the day off for company’s Community at Heart scheme.

Gareth Wood, Swalec’s head of customer service, said: “The Community at Hearty scheme provides an opportunity for our staff to actively make a positive difference to the worthwhile projects they are passionate about. Our team are a pretty talented bunch and have the skills to help with most tasks, so please let us know if you have a project at heart and we would love to try and give you a hand with it.”
