Caerphilly county borough is to get a share of 100 new jobs after an employment company won a new £150 million Government contract.

Working Links, a public-private partnership, has won the South Wales contract to run a service aimed at getting more than 100,000 long-term unemployed people back into work.

The company, which is part-owned by the Government and the private sector, will be doubling its current workforce of 100, meaning new jobs in its offices in Caerphilly, Bargoed and Blackwood.

The 100 jobs are to be spread across Working Links’ nine offices in South Wales.

The new contract was awarded by the Department of Work and Pensions to run Flexible New Deal, which replaces the current New Deal and Employment Zone programmes to get people off unemployment benefit.

It is designed to offers a package of training and support to boost skills and help people out of work secure sustainable jobs.

Working Links will initially recruit 50 new staff before recruiting another 50 during the five-year contract.

The new jobs will range from consultants, liaising directly with unemployed people, tutors, to more senior performance managers.

Working Links’ director for Wales Marcella Maxwell said: “Winning the Flexible New Deal contract is a great endorsement of our work in Wales over the past nine years.

“We have already developed a highly-skilled and professional team who have helped thousands of people on their journey back to work. Now we are keen to grow this team by adding many other talented people who are committed to helping others on that same journey.

“We are looking for people who have the qualities to forge flexible solutions for people who find themselves struggling to get onto the first rung of the employment ladder. Their contribution will make a major difference to the futures of individuals, families and communities.”

  • Working Links is holding a recruitment open day at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff from 10am to 4pm on Thursday August 13th.For more information visit www.workinglinks.co.uk
