Plans for a new development to replace the old Post Office in Caerphilly town centre have been revealed.
The new building, designed to compliment the near-by tourism information centre, will house a library, a council customer service centre, a heritage centre and be home to Gwent Police – once it closes Caerphilly Police Station.
Caerphilly Council leader Lindsay Whittle said: “The development will provide Caerphilly with a new landmark building offering a range of services for local people in the heart of the town centre.
“Caerphilly is a bustling 21st Century shopping destination that deserves modern facilities so we are delighted to reveal these exciting proposals.”
Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration, added: “This new development will be an added attraction for Caerphilly that will bring even more people into the town centre and boost the local economy.”
Negotiations are currently underway between Caerphilly County Borough Council, Gwent Police and the developer. An announcement about the final agreement is expected in the coming weeks.
