The manager of the Cancer Research Wales charity shop in Caerphilly town has accepted an national award on behalf of the charity.

Cancer Research Wales topped the category of Most Profitable Shops (1-5 shops) at the Charity Retail Association’s annual conference. Caerphilly shop manager Karen O’Brian was presented the award.

The charity has four shops across South Wales; Taff Street in Pontypridd, Castle Court Shopping Centre in Caerphilly and two in Whitchurch, Cardiff.

Cancer Research Wales Charity Director Liz Andrews said: “It is an honour to be recognised at such a big event and one which is highly regarded in the industry.

“We have had fantastic success with all of our shops this year including Pontypridd which we only opened nine months ago. The Caerphilly store’s furniture department remains hugely popular, and budget brides-to be absolutely love our Bridal Suite in Penlline Road in Whitchurch.

“We continue to supply only premium stock and our volunteers offer great customer service. This award is testament to this outstanding level of service.”
