Residents urged to decorate their bikes ready for the Tour of Britain 2011

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:31, Monday August 22nd, 2011.

Residents are being encouraged to give their old bicycles a fanciful makeover to help welcome the Tour of Britain to Caerphilly County Borough next month.

Ninety-six of the world’s top professional cyclists will take to the streets on Wednesday September 14 as Caerphilly hosts the finale of stage four of the race.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is working with voluntary organisation GAVO on the art project for people to display their colourful bikes along the Nelson to Caerphilly town centre route.

Council leader Allan Pritchard said: “I would really encourage as many people as possible to get involved in this arts project, and help us provide a real warm Caerphilly welcome to the Tour of Britain cyclists when they visit our county borough next month.”

For more information about being part of this project, call 01443 863218 or email communicationsunit@caerphilly.gov.uk
