News | Richard Gurner | Published: 11:00, Friday February 25th, 2011.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has agreed financial backing totalling almost £95,000 of several local projects.

Five organisations from the voluntary and community sector will receive funding from the council’s Community Regeneration Fund.

The initiatives to receive funding through the Community Regeneration Fund are:

  • Aber Valley Heritage Group – Part-time Heritage Project Officer – to receive £14,004
  • Old Bedford Bus Preservation Society – to receive £20,773.89
  • Elim Community Church, Pontlottyn – to receive £10,200
  • Van Allotments – Meeting/training room – to receive £24,705.60
  • Sardis Community Chapel – Replacement Community Hall – to receive £25,000

Cllr Ron Davies, cabinet member for regeneration and planning, said: “I am delighted that cabinet agreed to support this series of extremely worthwhile initiatives through the Community Regeneration Fund.

“This fund aims to foster and enhance viable and sustainable communities within Caerphilly County Borough, and enable voluntary sector organisations and community groups across our county borough to take forward initiatives they have developed which are of benefit to the entire community.

“I look forward to seeing these excellent community projects coming to fruition in the near future.”

The multi-agency decision making panel who examined the bids also recommended that Ccabinet partially support a bid from the ReVivo Youth Project in Senghenydd.

Cabinet agreed to provide £7,762.56 funding from the Community Regeneration Fund towards the project.
