The Plaid Cymru group on Caerphilly County Borough Council has launched a new website.
Council leader Allan Pritchard said: “We’re proud of our record since we took control of the authority, with support from some Independents, four years ago.
“Under Plaid residents have seen council tax frozen in 2011-12, no increase in councillors’ allowances since 2008, the highest recycling rates in South Wales and we have saved £245,000 through a senior management shake-up and £240,000 by cutting the communications and marketing bill.
“We’ve also announced plans to create 200 training jobs over the next three years and have maintained frontline services without cutting the pay and conditions of our employees, unlike neighbouring Labour-run Rhondda Cynon Taf council.”
The new website can be viewed at www.caerphillycounty.plaidcymru.org
To be exact Plaid have led the council with the support of not "some Independents" but two, namely Ron Davies and Colin Hobbs. Many people have questioned whether they can be considered independent, as one of the two stood as the Plaid candidate for the Welsh Assembly.
Under Plaid residents now have to pay for household items to be taken away which will inevitably result in an increase in fly tipping. This coupled with the proposed huge rise in funeral costs, this council are fastly becoming the number one 'stealth tax' council in Wales. Instead of hammering the people of Caerphilly County Borough with back door taxes why dont Plaid demonstrate some honesty by instead raising council tax so that at least taxes can be levied more progressively. It seems as though Plaid Cymru are copying Tory tax policy and that is a worrying prospect for the people of this Borough.
