A charity hockey tournament has raised £700 to help wounded armed forces veterans.
Bev Rogers, Sports Development Officer for Caerphilly County Borough Council, was inspired by her love of hockey and her son Michael, currently serving on active duty in Afghanistan, to hold the event.
A total of 11 mixed teams played in the tournament, held in Bedwas last week, and took part in six-a-side friendly games and a beat the keeper and crossbar challenge.
With over 100 spectators, the Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cllr Vera Jenkins also made a surprise visit to show her support.
Cllr. Jenkins presented the overall winner, Risca Ladies, with their trophy. The day was a success raising a growing total of £700 for the Help for Heroes charity.
