Chris Evans, the Labour MP for Islwyn, became an honorary milk monitor at Penrhiw Nursery last week to help celebrate the upcoming World School Milk Day.

Rachel Thompson-Williams, head of early years at Penrhiw Nursery, in Oakdale, said the school valued their daily milk.

She said: “We value the importance of daily milk provisions for young children and all of our children are involved in giving out the milk at snack time.”

Mr Evans said he was delighted to pledge his support to World School Milk Day.

The MP said: “Milk helps boost children’s energy levels and helps establish a healthy lifestyle at a young age. It is one of the best ways to rehydrate and keep children going through the school day,” he said.

World School Milk Day is celebrated globally on September 28.
