South Wales’ homelessness charity, Llamau has announced that Dragons’ Den star businesswoman Hilary Devey will be appearing at its 25th birthday celebrations.
On Thursday, Llamau will be celebrating 25 years of providing accommodation and housing-related support to homeless young people and vulnerable women in South Wales with a celebration at Cardiff’s City Hall.
In Caerphilly County Borough, the charity provides supported housing for 16 to 25-year-olds, including women-only supported housing, refuge accommodation for women and children escaping domestic abuse. It also provides family mediation, outreach for 14 to 19-year-olds at risk of homelessness, and Learning 4 Life, a pre-vocational educational programme which encourages young people back into learning, training and employment.
Frances Beecher, Llamau’s chief executive, said: “We’re very proud of our achievements during the past 25 years and we have a lot to celebrate.
“But, like many organisations in the sector, we are also facing severe economic pressures with cuts in funding and more demand for services. We need to make ourselves heard like never before.
Wales’ First Minister, Carwyn Jones, will be opening the event.
