Ninety reception class pupils from Ysgol Y Llawnt, Upper Rhymney and Bryn Bach Primary schools attended a special ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ recently at the Coed Bryn Oer Plant woodland site near Parc Bryn Bach, north of Rhymney.

The pupils, accompanied by a Teddy Bear Mascot, were entertained by a story teller, made wands and crowns from willow stems, took part in Teddy Bear games and bush tucker fruit trials.

After the activities, each school planted a tree with their Teddy Bear Mascot.

The event was organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside Ranger Service as a part of the Welsh Government’s PLANT initiative – which aims to have a tree planted for every child born or adopted in Wales.
