Partnership boosts building services specialist SCS Group

Tredomen-based building services specialist SCS Group has signed a strategic partnership aimed at increasing the amount of construction contracts it can target nationwide.

Established in 1992, SCS Group – previously known as Smoke Control Services – is one of the UK’s leading providers of ventilation, building management and smoke control solutions.

The firm has become a certified partner of Windowmaster, Europe’s leading supplier of sustainable indoor climate solutions based on natural ventilation through controlled openings in facades and roofs.

The partnership brings together Windowmaster’s industry-leading product range and the SCS Group’s delivery expertise in building energy management to offer integrated building services installations at lower cost to main contractors and mechanical and electrical specialist contractors.

As a result of the deal, SCS Group is now able to offer combined BMS (Building Management Systems), smoke control and passive ventilation systems that communicate directly on one network for all types of projects – particularly education and health-related buildings. Its recent contracts have included the Olympic Velodrome – termed the Pringle and nominated for the RIBA stirling award for its innovative design – and the Westfield Stratford retail development.

Managing Director of SCS Group Allan Meek said: “We are delighted to become an official partner of Windowmaster which means clients will benefit from our ability to provide holistic solutions for their entire building services needs, using the best available design, products, service – and all at a reduced cost.

“This means we can target more high-value contracts across the country and benefit from the activity around the Olympics and in health and education, which continue to be buoyant.”

“Our integrated approach – which is unique to the industry – eliminates duplication of control stations and interface hardware and software, and improves operator control and monitoring facilities. Crucially, this results in considerable cost savings when compared with employing separate specialists for individual disciplines, so contractors are increasingly attracted by our offer.”

SCS Group recently designed and installed an integrated system to control the ventilation, air conditioning, under-floor heating and hot water systems at the Brighton campus of the University of Sussex.

Contractors Essex Services Group (ESG) originally specified three separate systems for the project. SCS Group was awarded the contract after designing a completely integrated building services package that simplified the installation and reduced costs by 35%.

Congratulation to Allan and partners, who I have known since the companies inception and have witnessed their growth in a very specialist area of building technology, and as one of Caerffilis quality businesses.
This new partnership will add to the superb offering SCS Group can deliver to the building industry. Smoking….
