Wizard of Oz at Blackwood Miners’ Institute

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 19:02, Friday April 2nd, 2010.

Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber may still be looking for his Dorothy in BBC TV’s Over the Rainbow but one local theatre group has no such problem.

The musical maestro is looking for a leading lady to play Dorothy in his next production of the Wizard of Oz but Blackwood Musical Theatre Society has already found her for its production of the classic musical.

In fact they have two in the form of Natasha Jerwood, 21, and Emily Larsen, 15.

The pair of budding young performers from the Blackwood area have both been chosen to play the part of Dorothy.

The girls will share the role during performances from Tuesday April 20 to Saturday April 24.

The society promises it to be a fantastic production with amazing costumes, scenery and of course, captivating music.

Many local children are involved in the production playing Munckins.

Tickets are available now from the Blackwood Miners’ Institute Box Office on 01495 227206 or book online at www.blackwoodminersinstitute.com
