This weekend, people across Caerphilly County Borough will pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in military conflict.
Below are some of the events taking place:
- Friday November 11, 11am, Blackwood town – Armistice Day Service at Blackwood Market Place (no wreaths).
- Friday November 11, 11am, Caerphilly Town – Service of Remembrance for the laying of crosses by local school children at Caerphilly Town Centre Cenotaph, the Twyn.
- Saturday November 12 – St James Church, Rudry, 10.45am. Parade from Griffin Inn to Rudry Cenotaph for service and laying of wreaths.
- Saturday November 12, – Ty Pontllanfraith, 1.30pm, Laying of wreaths at Ty Pontllanfraith followed by service at St Augustine’s Church, Pontllanfraith.
- Sunday November 13, St John the Baptist Church, Machen. 10.20am Parade from the public car park, The Crescent, Machen to the church for Service of Remembrance.
- Sunday November 13, Oakdale, 10.40am – Parade from Post Office, Oakdale followed by Service and Laying of Wreaths at Oakdale Memorial at 11am.
- Sunday November 13, Blackwood Town, 11am – Service and Laying of wreaths at Blackwood War Memorial, Pentwyn Road.
- Sunday November 13, 12.30 p.m., Maesycwmmer – Laying of wreaths at Maesycwmmer Community Garden, The Crescent.
- Sunday November 13, 2.15pm, Caerphilly Town – Parade from St Martin’s Church, Caerphilly followed by Service and Laying of Wreaths at Caerphilly War Memorial, the Twyn at 3pm.
Caerphilly County Borough Council has said senior officials from the local authority will be present at the various Remembrance parades.
